How to Use the SMTP Test Tool to Check Your Mail Server
What is an SMTP Test?
An SMTP test checks if your outgoing mail server is reachable and accepting connections. If you are having trouble sending emails, this tool helps identify whether the issue is with server connectivity or your email client settings.
Mailbux SMTP Settings
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Server | my.mailbux.com |
| Port | 587 |
| Encryption | STARTTLS |
| Username | Your full email address |
| Password | Your email password |
How to Test
- Go to SMTP Test Tool
- Enter server:
my.mailbux.com - Enter port:
587 - Run the test
What Good Results Look Like
A successful test shows the server responds with a 220 greeting and supports STARTTLS encryption. If the test fails, check:
- Port blocked: Some ISPs or networks block port 587. Try from a different network or contact your ISP.
- Wrong port: Make sure you are using port 587 with STARTTLS, NOT port 465.
- Firewall: Check if your firewall allows outbound connections on port 587.
Still Not Working?
If the SMTP test passes but you still cannot send email from your email client:
- Double-check your username (must be your full email address)
- Reset your email account password in Mailbux → Email Accounts
- Make sure your email client is set to STARTTLS (not SSL/TLS) for SMTP
- Check if your domain is blacklisted: Blacklist Check
